It is pretty obvious that our skin reflects many things. The skin is the result, the reflection of our emotions. In good ways or in bad ways…
When we feel good, we’re glowing. When we go through tough times, we somatize, and at best it’s just an acne breakout.
Our epidermic reactions can be caused by emotions and vice versa: it’s a vicious circle.
Then we get anxious, and the circle goes on, and this never ends…
But skin breakouts are reversible. Although they are temporary, they sometimes settle for a while and let’s be honest, they’re pretty annoying.
So, if you’re in that kind of situation, and all of the sudden you find yourself having a capricious skin; like one day you had the skin of a baby and out of the blue you look like a blooming teenager, then it’s time to talk. Let’s review your cleansing routine, and your self-care routine.
Who never went through this? You look at yourself in the mirror and be like “What the heck is going on?!” Yep, happens to me too.
But first of all, to make you feel better, the skin (or should I say the epidermis) is always renewing itself. The keratinocytes of the epidermis taking place on the basal level, right above the dermis, rise to the surface to finally die and desquamate. In a short, we could say that our skin sheds and constantly renew itself.
That is the good news.
The bad news is that it can takes about 28 days…
So, we’re going to help it out a little bit, give it a hand to support its natural rhythm
Step One: Free yourself from guilt. Easier said than done, but we’ve all been there. Then, step back and see the big picture. You have a big presentation coming up? Don’t let a temporary skin phase rattle you. This too shall pass. Just breathe and go get it!
Step Two: Help your skin renew itself. Try mechanical exfoliation (with grains that are adapted to your own skin type), or fruit acid peelings.
Also, you must meet and learn about your vital ally for a balanced skin here.
Step Three: What if it was actually the perfect time to choose a more natural routine, and to nourish your skin with cosmetics that are packed with active ingredients, but that are also respectful and sustainable?
